You may recall that 3 months ago I posted a clip of Mike Tompkins performing “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele.
Well, 2 familiar faces return again with their own rendition of the chart-topping piece.
Analysis
- It sounds pretty classically oriented until the beat kicks in at 0:21 and the sound curves at 0:39.
- The piano’s arpeggios combined with the cello’s crescendo at 2:45 are the things that chills are made of.
- I love how the song builds up at 3:19 and then drops… only to kick in again as a pensive beat during the credits. Very clever.
- Just knowing that the entire song was made with only a piano and a cello (admittedly some that were non-acoustic) makes it that much cooler.

Finally
Am I the only one who thinks this would make an awesome soundtrack for a movie?

The use of the electric cello was quite pointless… But, yes, some pretty cool stuff.
